John Wick grew up in Chicago, but spent summers in Rockport, Massachusetts where he became very fond of lobster. In the early Mesa days at Xerox John suggested a lobster dinner with live lobsters, large pots of boiling water, etc. We did it a couple times for small groups, but it soon became a tradition for John's birthday with the whole extended Mesa group invited. It probably started at our house around 1980 and continued every year. Since John died of lung cancer in 1989, we have continued to hold the lobster dinner every year on his birthday as a memorial. In addition to the lobster, one of the highlights of the menu is always Jan's stuffed baked potatoes. In fact the annual invitation solicits contributions of food, and explicitly asks for a contribution of "Jan Karlton's potatoes."-- Richard Johnsson
